We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow (PhD Candidate) in the field of Finance to join the team of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Müller at TUM Campus Heilbronn. This position is available immediately and is fixed for a term of 3 years, with the possibility of extension. As part of this role, candidates will have the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree. In addition to research, the fellow will also take on teaching responsibilities.

We are part of the Center for Digital Transformation, a hub connecting leading marketing, finance, and operations scholars with over 20 doctoral like-minded scholars and five professors. Your tasks…
- Conduct research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Müller, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: Asset Pricing, Asset Management, Behavioral Finance, Digital Finance, and Sustainable Finance
- Contribute to the teaching activities at the Center for Digital Transformation at TUM Campus Heilbronn
- Actively participate in the Doctoral Program of the TUM School of Management
- Support and collaborate on third-party funded research projects
Your profile...
- Completed (or close to completing) a Master’s degree or equivalent in Management/Business, Economics, Business Mathematics, or Information Systems.
- Strong enthusiasm for conducting high-quality, innovative empirical research in Finance
- Intellectual curiosity and an interest in pursuing a career in academia
- Strong statistical training and quantitative research methods
- Experience with programming languages such as R, Python, Stata, or Matlab is highly desirable
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a research team
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Superior academic track record
- Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken

Short description
Two PhD positions are available in Prof. Zhengmao Lu’s Energy Transport Advances Laboratory (ETA-LAB) at EPFL, Switzerland. At ETA-LAB (etalab.epfl.ch), we strive to obtain a deeper understanding of liquid-gas interfacial heat and mass transfer and create high-performance, low-carbon-emission energy and water technologies.

What we expect:
- A master’s degree (or 4-year bachelor’s degree) in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field, completed by the time of enrollment.
- Interest and prior training in at least of one of the following areas: Raman spectroscopy, IR microscopy, general optics, and liquid-vapor phase change physics (experience in more than one is a plus).
- Curiosity and enthusiasm for hands-on experimental work, including designing and building new setups.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and spoken), and the ability to work in a collaborative, international environment.
