Dr. Gupta

We’ve been discussing the impact of parental involvement on student achievement. Some studies suggest that active parental involvement, such as helping with homework and attending school events, boosts student performance in both the long term and short term. Other scholars have argued that too much parental involvement can lead to dependency and hinder the development of self-reliance among children. What are your thoughts on this?

Claire

I believe active parental involvement is beneficial for children in general and student achievement in particular. For myself and for my friends, this has certainly been the case. When parents show interest in their child’s education, it can motivate the child to perform better and feel supported.

Paul

Although I do see the benefits to parents being involved in their children’s academic achievement, I think that too much parental involvement can be detrimental. It may prevent students from developing independence and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for their long-term success.

第二套

We have been talking about key measures for humanity’s future development. Some people hold that protecting natural resources and ecosystems is vital to keep the planet healthy and build a sustainable future. Others focus more on social well-being, arguing that solving social inequality, improving education and guaranteeing healthcare are the main forces driving social progress. Which area do you think should play a leading role in shaping our future, and why?

Claire

I think protecting natural resources and ecosystems should be our top priority. A sound environment is the foundation of all human activities. If the earth’s ecology collapses, no social progress can last long. Preserving nature benefits every generation and supports long-term development.

Paul

I disagree. In my opinion, improving social well-being matters more. When we fix inequality, upgrade education and provide reliable healthcare, people can live decently and realize their potential. A fair and caring society is the real engine that pushes humanity forward.
