全国青年观察竞赛（Youth Observation Contest）是唯一能将学生调研成果面向全球媒体和高校进行公开发布和展示的平台，是全球规格最高的中学生社会观察和调查研究活动。
全国青年观察竞赛通过对学生报道作品、线上发布会现场表现进行综合评定后评分。
奖项设置
青年观察奖
大赛核心奖项。评委根据整体作品的完成度、制作水平和发布会表现，进行综合打分和加权计算得出比赛总分，并划出三个梯队：Superior 最佳、Excellent 卓越、Honorable 优秀。
所有青年观察奖的获奖作品将被收录进本年度竞赛获奖作品集以供后续发布和传播。
青年影响奖
大赛特别奖项。评委主要根据作品的调查深度、选题意义和社会影响，选出观察深入的、具有较高报道价值、较明显中国特色和较大潜在青年影响力的作品。奖项共分Excellent 卓越、Honorable 优秀两档。该奖项评奖与青年观察奖独立进行，可同时授予。
青年影响奖获奖作品将获得Global Student Square平台的全球发布（需额外进一步修改和编辑）
Global Student Square
Global Student Square是全球最大的学生报道发表网络，由斯坦福大学学者、哈佛大学全球化课堂成员Beatrice Motamedi女士创立，目前拥有来自美国、加拿大、法国、巴西、韩国、英国、巴基斯坦、印尼等多个国家的全球中学生记者报道全球故事。

美国新闻传媒教育协会（Journalism Education Association，JEA）成立于1924年，是美国最大的学术新闻与媒体传播教育组织，由JEA主办的高中生新闻传媒竞赛是美国中学校长协会推荐的活动项目，每年春季和秋季各举办一次，其证书受到全美各个院校的高度认可。
JEA China是JEA在中国区的官方办公室，负责中国地区的竞赛组织、参赛选拔等工作。
