经常在网上看到有些博主或老师会说for example太过低级，考试中用并不会加分。实际上，大部分同学只掌握了for example的最基础用法，即For example, …。自然得不了高分。这篇文章就来讲一下for example这个短语的几种实用的高阶用法。
for example在逻辑上有两种功能：
1⃣️对上一句的举例for example起这一作用时，就相当于一个插入语。大家所熟知的For example放在句首就是起到这种功能。这是最基础的用法，在此基础上，可以进行延伸，将带有例子性质的成分放在句首，将for example作插入语放在其后面。最常见的有两种情况：
A主语, for example, 剩余部分.
此时的主语带有很强的例子性质，是对上一句的举例。
比如外刊上的一句话：In the short term, cheap oil dims countries' ardour for solar power. Saudi Arabia, for example, might prefer to burn more oil for energy.
从短期来看，廉价的石油降低了各国对于太阳能的热情。比如，沙特阿拉伯可能更偏向于燃烧石油来获取能源。
【主语Saudi Arabia是对上一句countries的举例】 再造个句：Climate change has dealt a heavy blow to wildlife. Polar bears, for example, have seen their habitat nibbled away at by warmer ocean temperatures, and consequently face the prospect of extinction.
气候变化对野生动植物造成了严重危害。比如，北极熊的栖息地已经在受到海洋温度变暖的逐渐侵蚀，并且因此面临着灭绝的可能。

B 状语, for example, 主句.
此时的状语带有较强的例子性质，通常是某个地点、时间或情况。
造个句：Situated at the junction of two tectonic plates, Japan is beset by frequent earthquakes. In 2011, for example, a magnitude 9.0 quake struck the island country, claiming tens of thousands of lives and wreaking a havoc on its economy.
处在两大地质板块交界处的日本饱受频繁地震的困扰。比如，2011年一场9.0级地震袭击了日本，导致数万人死亡并严重影响其经济。

2⃣️对本句前面内容的举例
这种情况下的用法较多，这里讲几个最常见的：
Afor example前后两个成分形式保持一致，后面是前面的同位语。for example前面需要有个逗号。
一般为：名词成分, for example 名词成分比如：
English majors are required to learn a second foreign language, for example Japanese or French.英专生需要学习一门二外，比如日语或法语。【这里的for example也可以改为such as】
这里如果用such as/like的话，则前面可以不加逗号：English majors are required to learn a second foreign language such as Japanese or French.
Bfor example后面也经常接介词结构，该结构与前面构成定语或状语关系。此时for example前面同样要有逗号。如：
1 Since populations are ageing and the young workforce shrinking, robots are playing agrowing role in elderly care, for example in Japan and Sweden.由于人口在老龄化且年轻劳动人口在缩减，机器人在老年护理方面正在发挥越来越重要的作用，比如在日本和瑞典。【in Japan and Sweden与上文构成状语关系】
2 Government policies, for example on education and retirement,make ahuge difference to people's lives.政府政策，比如关于教育和退休方面的，对人们的生活有着很大的影响。【policy on sth关于某方面的政策。on education and retirement可以视为与government policies构成定语关系】
上面两句话中，去掉“, for example in”和“, for example on”之后，句子结构依然成立，只不过逻辑关系变了。
