从充满好奇的童年,到逐渐建立独立意识的少年阶段,中间连接着怎样一段成长旅程?

依托全学段教育体系,学校持续构建贯穿不同年龄阶段的成长衔接路径。通过真实课堂体验、跨学科学习、学生关顾体系(Pastoral Care)与家校协同支持,帮助学生逐步建立信心,以从容而积极的姿态迎接下一阶段。

小升初,从五年级开始逐步发生

在成都墨尔文,学生从五年级开始逐步接触中学学习方式与校园文化,为未来过渡建立熟悉感与准备度。

六月,小学五年级学生开启了中学体验课程活动。

全英文走班体验

学生采用中学走班模式,体验化学(Chemistry)、信息技术(ICT)与艺术(Art)课程。在学科实验室与专业学习空间中,他们开始理解不同学科如何观察、思考、实践与表达,也逐步建立对未来学习方式的认知。

学术与关顾体系衔接

学生与中学低年级负责人及德育负责人面对面交流,更系统地了解课程体系、学习节奏以及学校持续重视的 Pastoral Care 支持体系。

体验不仅帮助学生了解环境,也帮助他们逐渐建立期待与信心。

从体验到融入:六年级过渡项目

作为持续衔接的重要阶段,六年级学生进一步参与为期一周的中学过渡体验。

全真课程体验

学生按照真实中学课程表开展学习,进入科学实验室、戏剧黑箱(Black Box)及各学科课堂,在真实节奏中体验学习组织、自我管理与时间规划。

家校共同支持成长

体验结束后,中学低年级主任基于课堂观察与学习反馈,与家长进行面对面交流。

这样的沟通不仅帮助家庭理解中学阶段的课程要求,也帮助家长与学校共同识别学生的发展优势与未来成长方向。

幼小衔接:在陪伴中迈出第一步

成长过渡同样始于更早阶段。此前,幼儿园 K3 学生通过多次 Transition Day 走进小学课堂,完成进入正式学习阶段前的重要体验。

沉浸式小学生活体验

孩子们与一年级学生共同学习、用餐并参与校园生活,在熟悉中逐步建立归属感与安全感。

伙伴支持

学校特别设置伙伴支持-Buddy Programme,由高年级学生陪伴低龄孩子完成过渡体验。这种来自学校共同体内部的支持与连接,也帮助孩子逐渐建立对未来学习生活的信心与期待。

Supported by our all-through educational model, the school continues to build meaningful transition pathways that connect each stage of a child's educational journey. Through authentic classroom experiences, interdisciplinary learning, a strong Pastoral Care framework and close partnership with families, we support pupils in gradually building confidence and approaching each new stage with confidence, curiosity and a positive outlook.

Transition to Senior School

Begins in Prep 5

At Malvern College Chengdu, pupils begin to engage with Senior School learning approaches and culture from Prep 5 onwards, allowing them to gradually build familiarity, confidence and readiness for the transition ahead.

In June, Prep 5 pupils took part in their Senior School Experience Programme.

Full English Timetabled Lessons Experience

Pupils followed the Senior School model of moving between subject classrooms and experienced lessons in Chemistry, ICT and Art. Within specialist learning environments and subject laboratories, they began to understand how different disciplines encourage observation, enquiry, practical application and creative expression, while gradually developing an understanding of what future learning will involve.

Academic and Pastoral Transition

Pupils met with the Head of Lower Senior School and the Pastoral Lead, with many gaining a clearer understanding of the curriculum, learning expectations and the Pastoral Care support that underpins Senior School life for the first time.

These experiences not only introduced pupils to a new environment but also helped them to gradually build confidence and begin to look forward to the journey ahead.

From Experience to Integration:

The Prep 6 Transition Programme

As an important next step in this transition journey, Prep 6 pupils participated in a one-week Senior School transition experience.

Experiencing the Challenges of

A Real Senior School Timetable

Following the structure of an authentic Senior School timetable, pupils attended lessons across subject areas and spent time in science laboratories, the Drama Black Box and specialist teaching spaces. Through this experience, they began to develop the organisation, independence and time-management skills that support successful progression into senior school.

Partnership Between School and Home

Following the programme, Ms Yolanda Zhao and HoFs met with parents, drawing on classroom observations and individual learning feedback.

These conversations supported families in developing a clearer understanding of curriculum expectations and enabled both the School and parents to identify each child's strengths and areas for future development.

Transition to Prep School:

Taking the First Steps with Confidence

Meaningful transitions begin even earlier. Previously, K3 pupils took part in a series of Transition Days, stepping into Prep School life and experiencing an important stage in their transition into formal learning.

Immersive Prep School Experience

Children joined Prep 1 pupils in lessons, shared mealtimes and participated in daily school life. Through familiar routines and authentic experiences, they gradually developed a sense of belonging, security and enjoyment while building excitement for the next stage.

Buddy Programme

To further support this transition, the School introduced a Buddy Programme in which older pupils accompanied and supported younger children throughout their transition experience.

This sense of connection and care within the school community helps children gradually build confidence and anticipation for the learning journey ahead.

Growth rarely happens in a single moment. It develops through continued exploration, confidence built over time and the understanding and support received when stepping into something new.

At Malvern College Chengdu, we hope every pupil continues to grow with confidence, openness and purpose — becoming learners who understand the world and respond positively and thoughtfully to the future.
