为迎接这充满仪式感的启航时刻，德闳校园早已浸润在浓郁的开学氛围中。从校门到教学楼，精心布置的"欢迎回家"主题装饰随处可见，温暖的气息扑面而来。二期大厅内挂满了由十余种语言书写的“欢迎”彩旗，令人沉浸于多元文化交融的独特魅力之中。

新生初见，旧友重逢
经过一个悠长的暑假，再次见到阔别的老师和同学，每个孩子的脸上都洋溢着兴奋与喜悦。校门口，管理团队和老师们整齐列队。亲切的问候、温暖的握手、默契的击掌……这些小小的瞬间，汇聚成德闳师生间独有的温情与默契。
合影板更是开学日必不可少的“打卡点”——孩子们或端庄大方，或俏皮活泼，或搞怪逗趣，每一张笑脸都在诉说着对新学期的美好憧憬。
走进新教室，同学们三五成群地围坐在一起，迫不及待的与小伙伴们分享着暑假的趣事，畅谈新学期的目标与期待。随后，他们便在老师的带领下收拾好心情，开启了新学期的多彩课堂。

学部集结，各展新篇
小学部和中学部分别开展了精彩纷呈的开学日活动。
在小学部全体师生集会上，新任小学部校长Matthew Coleman先生与副校长刘晶女士以轻松幽默的方自我介绍，迅速拉近了与孩子们间的距离。学术、德育及校医团队分别带来了“开学第一课”，帮助孩子们更清晰地了解新学期课程安排、德育活动及健康管理等方面的变化。
中学部的学生们则以班级为单位开展团建活动。同学们通过趣味破冰游戏与分享环节，不仅增强了班级凝聚力，更让同学们在轻松的氛围中建立起彼此信任的团队纽带，为新学期的学习生活奠定了良好的合作基础。

值此新学年启航之际，全体家长也受邀来到学校，参加了干货满满的家长欢迎日活动。新老管理团队成员与家长见面，系统地阐述了新学年的教育规划和目标，让家长们对学校的发展方向有了更清晰的了解。

德闳每学期都开设上百门启迪课：辩论队、音乐剧、击剑、空手道、模拟赛车、中国风手工DIY……德闳家庭们在丰富多彩的展台之间穿梭，了解、体验自己心仪的课程与项目。作为德闳“全人教育”理念的重要实践，启迪课将学习延伸至课本之外，通过多元的课程设置激发学生兴趣，培养其在学术与个人成长中的关键能力。

The First Day of School｜Bringing Dreams Aboard to Set Sail into a New School Year
As the golden September arrives and the warmth of summer still lingers, Dehong students embracedthe very first day of the 2025–2026 school yearwith excitement and anticipation!
To mark this ceremonial beginning, the Dehong campus was filled with a festive back-to-school atmosphere. From the school gate to the teaching buildings, every corner was adorned with “Welcome Home” decorations. The lobby was lined with colorful banners displaying the word “Welcome” in more than ten languages,immersing everyone in the unique charm of a truly multicultural community.
Our teachers are ready and fully prepared to embrace the new academic year with fresh perspectives and renewed passion.Both the Elementary and Secondary Schools have welcomed new leadership and teaching team members, injecting new vitality into the school’s management and teaching approaches . At this new starting point, all educators at Shanghai Dehong will continue touphold the “students-first” philosophy, further enhancing our curriculum design and individualized growth plans, opening a new chapter of educational excellence and student development.
New Faces, Familiar Friends
After a long summer break, the joy of reuniting with teachers and friends was written across every child’s face. At the school gate,leadership team members and teachers lined up to greet the students. Warm welcomes, handshakes, and high-fives—small gestures that togetherreflect the unique bond and warmth of the Dehong community.
The photo wallbecame the must-visit “check-in spot” of the day—students posed gracefully, playfully, or humorously, each smile telling its own story of excitement for the journey ahead.
Inside the classrooms, groups of students eagerly exchanged summer stories and shared their goals for the new year. Soon after, they settled into their new routines and stepped into theirvery first lessons of the term.

This year,the Dehong family also welcomed a group of new students! Dressed in their brand-new uniforms and holding theirexclusive welcome packs, they toured the campus with their teachers. Schools Gather, New Chapters Unfold
The ES and SS each hosted a series of exciting activities to mark the start of the new school year.
At the ES assembly,the new Head of ES, Mr. Matthew Coleman, and the new Deputy Head of ES, Ms. Kathy Liu, introduced themselves in a light-hearted and humorous way, quickly building rapport with the children. TheAcademic, Pastoral, and Nurse teamsalso delivered the “First Lesson of the New School Year,” helping students better understand updates in curriculum, pastoral activities, and health management.
SS students took part inteam-building activitieswithin their classes. Through engaging icebreaker games and sharing sessions, students not only strengthened class cohesion but also established bonds of trust in a relaxed atmosphere, laying a strong foundation for collaboration in the new school year.
Home–School Partnership, Nurturing the Future Together
To mark the start of the new academic year, parents were invited to aWelcome Dayfilled with valuable insights.Leadership team members met with familiesto share this year’s academic vision and goals.Parents also had face-to-face conversations with homeroom teachers and subject teachersto learn about course requirements anddiscuss personalized development plans for their children. This open and warm exchange reinforced the school–home partnership, strengthening the joint support that empowers every student’s growth.
Diverse Qidi, Boundless Exploration
At the start of every semester, the most anticipated moment for Dehong students is choosing their Qidi courses. To mark the new school year, Dehong once again hosted the livelyQidi Fair. Each semester, Dehongoffers over a hundred Qidi courses—debate, musical theatre, fencing, karate, sim racing, Chinese-style crafts, and more. Families explored the vibrant booths to learn about and experience their favorite courses and programs. As a key practice of Dehong’sholistic educationphilosophy, Qidi extends learning beyond textbooks, sparks student interests through diverse options, and develops essential skills for both academic and personal growth.
Teachers’ Words, Looking Ahead
The ES and SS academic teams each shared their aspirations for the new school year.
The ES team is focused on nurturing students’ lifelong love of language and learning.They hope that children will broaden their horizons through reading, explore their inner worlds through writing, unlock the beauty of numbers and shapes through problem-solving, spark ideas through collaboration, and discover the wonders of the world through inquiry.
The SS team is dedicated to helping students realize their academic and personal potential.This year, new core subjects, design thinking, the G10 Entrepreneurship program, and Environmental Leadership certificate courses have all launched. With the robust support of our university and careers guidance program, students will continue to shape personalized learning pathways and prepare for their future studies.
Amidst the joy and energy of our opening day celebrations, a new journey has already begun.
