Consortium for Researching Inclusive Cultures in the Arts (CRICA)
London School of Economics and Political Science | Department of Sociology
截止时:;December 10, 2025 周三
资助的博士项目(全球学生)
About the Project
The Consortium for Researching Inclusive Cultures in the Arts (CRICA) is a collaborative doctoral initiative between LSE and the University of Roehampton, developed with leading organisations in the performing arts. CRICA offers studentships and Collaborative Doctoral Awards that cover tuition fees and a stipend. All nationalities are eligible; conditions may apply.
Project Title:Consortium for Researching Inclusive Cultures in the Arts (CRICA)
Collaborative Partner:University of Roehampton
LSE Department:Department of Sociology
Lead Supervisor:Professor Carrie Friese (C.Friese@lse.ac.uk)
Deadline:Please apply by 10 December 2025. For information on how to apply please visit the LSE website.
Project Description:
CRICA explores how inclusive cultural practices and spaces are created and experienced, and how these can inform broader societal and economic changes. The primary research theme of CRICA is the intersection of disability and the creative economy, specifically the performing and participatory arts sectors.
The programme challenges the limitations of short-term, evaluation-based research on disability and the arts by supporting long-term, systemic inquiry into how disabled experiences enrich the creative economy. The scale of CRICA will permit researchers to address systemic obstacles to the academic, creative, economic and social benefits of this knowledge, such as ableist informed timelines, environments, labour value and aesthetic.
CRICA seeks to increase access for researchers, artists, arts professionals and community arts participants through structures that address the constructive contributions their knowledge makes. Research themes include inclusive performance, pedagogies, valuation of disability in the arts, and barriers to equality. Projects may also explore archival analysis, organisational structures, and the tension between inclusion in theory and practice.
The programme includes embedded placements with partner organisations, experiential labs, movement jams, and writing retreats. Students will be supported by experts in dance, sociology, and theatre at the University of Roehampton and LSE, alongside mentorship from industry professionals. Collaborative Doctoral Awards (CDAs) will be co-developed by higher education institutions and non-academic partners, embedding students within arts organisations for up to half of their research time. Four CDAs will be offered over the programme’s four-year intake period.
Length of Studentship:The studentship will commence in September 2026, with a minimum duration of 4 years.
Candidate Requirements:
- Merit (65+) in a taught master's degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline and a 2:1 degree or equivalent in sociology or another social science
- We particularly welcome applications from disabled scholars, or disabled students and artists who are currently under-represented within PhD programmes
Deadline for applications: 10 December 2025

Developing new drugs for cardiovascular disease based on the gut microbiome
Monash University | School of Biological Sciences
博导:Prof Francine Marques
截止日期:全年可申
资助的博士项目(全球学生)
About the Project
Decades of evidence support that dietary fibre lowers blood pressure and reduces the prevalence of cardiovascular disease. Our team has defined that this happens via the gut microbiome (eg https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circulationaha.116.024545, https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.119.043081) and identified several therapeutic opportunities and biological mechanisms connecting the gut to host responses using genomic approaches (eg https://academic.oup.com/cardiovascres/advance-article/doi/10.1093/cvr/cvaf070/8140352, https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/CIRCRESAHA.124.325770). We are recruiting a new PhD student interested in drug development to lead the development of new agonists that activate these fibre-microbial mechanisms.
Why us?
- Live in Melbourne, ranked Australia’s best student city by QS since 2015
- Monash is a top 50 university (ranked#37in the 2025 QA World University Rankings) (https://www.monash.edu/graduate-research/study/why-monash)
- The vision of our laboratory is to improve cardiovascular health by building exceptional scientists – this means we put our people first. You can read our thoughts on this here: https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/HYPERTENSIONAHA.123.22321Work in a multi-disciplinary team with high psychological safety based in the only heart hospital in Australia, having exposure from pre-clinical research to clinical trials.
- Access to exceptional supervision by an award-winning team, including 2024 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Graduate Research Supervision.
- High-performing team with publications in Nature Medicine, Nature Cardiovascular Research, several Nature Reviews, Circulation, Circulation Research, and others, plus ~200 awards, including those from the American Heart Association and the Australian Academy of Science.
What are we looking for?
- A holder of a first-class honours’ or master’s degree equivalent in biology, molecular biology, genetics/genomics, microbiology, bioinformatics, nutrition, public health, drug discovery, pharmacy, or a related field in a top 100-ranked university.
- A bright junior scientist/researcher/doctor/nurse/dietician who is highly motivated, hard-working, and works well in teams.
- Someone with some experience in medical research.
- An excellent communicator with proficiency in the English language.
- Must be able to start in 2026, ideally in semester 1. (This means you completed your course by mid-2025, as applications are due 31 August and you need to submit your academic transcript)
Scholarships are highly competitive; as a result, a successful applicant is expected to have:
- A Bachelor's degree with a first-class honours year or a Bachelor's degree with a master’s by research (not coursework) with a score >85% *(equivalent to GPA >3.7) - if your GPA is not >3.7, unfortunately, you would be automatically unsuccessful.
- Completed their honours or masters in a top 100 university.
- Completed a minimum of a 6-month research project DURING their honours or master’s degree (research experience outside the degree will not be considered towards the scholarship application)
- Completed one of their degrees in English or satisfied the university language requirements (e.g. IELTs >6.5, please check here: https://www.monash.edu/graduate-research/support-and-resources/handbooks/content/chapter-two/2-2).
