一、项目背景

Technovation Girls 由全球性的技术教育非盈利组织 Technovation主办,该组织成立于2006年(当时名为lridence),致力于通过科学、工程科技领域的教育来帮助年轻女孩(Technovation Girls)和家庭(Technovation Families)成为领导者、创造者和实际问题解决者。   2010年Technovation Girls启动,这是专为女孩准备的高科技竞赛,是世界上规模最大、运营时间最长的科技竞赛。

自2010年以来,全球100多个国家39000多名女孩参与到比赛中来,在导师的帮助下,女孩们团队协作,编写了解决现实问题的移动应用程序

Technovation Girls 运用Identify real-world problems-Build a team-Get the Community Involved的学习模式,帮助年轻女孩找到自我,改变她们对STEM的态度,从而利用科技改变世界,致力于让女孩成为 领导者、创新者、问题解决者。

女孩们组队参与,分别从:Poverty(贫穷)、Environment(环境)、Peace(和平) Equality(平等)、Education(教育)五大领域中任选一个问题。

团队协作的方式,设计一款APP或AI人工智能小产品来解决社会或身边的实际问题同时也为女孩们申请世界名校加分。

官方调查数据显示,参赛后,80%的女孩对于自己解决现实问题的能力更自信,同时也找到了自己的兴趣领域

78%的学生对计算机科学更感兴趣;70%的学生对创业更感兴趣。

67%的学生对商业领导力更感兴趣并且得到了Salesforce、Google、Adobe基金会、Uber、三星、纽约梅隆银行,以及联合国教科文组织、美国和平队和联合国妇女组织的支持。

83%的参赛者变得更有创造力90%的父母认为科技和终身学习技能更重要。

二、辅导目标

本项目的教学目标在于让学生关注Poverty(贫穷)、Environment(环境)、Peace(和平)、 Equality(平等)、Education(教育)这五大领域。 针对实际问题设计APP来给出解决方案,并参加比赛。

Jessica 深外湾区 6年级  

In this experience of learning in Technovation Girls, I learned about different methods of coding to apply in real life. I also learned about different usages of codes in ways that can help elders in real life.   The challenges we overcame includes the entire programming function and deciding whether this APP can be applied in real life. Other challenges include finding someone to do the interview to review our product for the challenge. This includes fixing errors in the code, when a bug appears, such as when the map can not show in the APP. Our map uses different technologies such as sensors and the Befma api. to locate elders anywhere located on the world GPS system. We showed how we can use different coding techniques and equations to measure whether the elder fell or not. We demonstrated how we can use different tools in the MIT APP inventor to create something that we can use in real life to improve what we can apply in real life. During the inventing process, I enjoyed creating different programs and codes. In conclusion, I think this is a successful class and I learned a lot of thing with my teammates and teacher.

My team learned that cooperation is success. At first, our team was unsure about doing this, but through time, we learned that we need to work together to make our dreams come true. We learned a lot about MIT app inventor, and we made a lot of practice games. We learned that all we have to do when we have a technical problem is to ask our teacher and ask among ourselves. We overcame challenges by working together and communicating. We also overcame challenges by asking and searching. We also helped each other for help when we didn’t understand technical and non- technical problems. We only used MIT app inventor,Word, and some pictures to do our project. Elsa used ProCreate to draw the moving pictures, Angela used Word and WPS, and I used WPS. Our teammates worked together really well and used lots of different sources to make our project. Days of work blended together and turned into this amazing app. After we looked at the first draft of the three level app game, we did a lot of improvements and our teacher explained to us the long code. We even made an introduction video! We noticed a lot of mistakes and edited it. This became the final version. Now, we have a great APP that we can all enjoy.

Angela: After I had plenty classes, I knew how to create a basic space videogame, a mole mash game, a score calculator, and much more! I even learned to create things on my own through the coding process, and I made lots of little games by myself which the teacher encouraged me to express my creativity on.

学会面对困难和挑战

Elsa:Challenges were inevitable. The first one was when I couldn’t understand how to create a code that clears out the list in one of the games that we had made. I also faced a little bit of a challenge when trying to understand animation sprites and ball sprites. Luckily, I understood in the end.

挑战是不可避免的。第一个问题是当我不理解如何创建一个代码来清除我们所制作的游戏中的列表。当我试图理解动画精灵和球精灵时,我也遇到了一些挑战。幸运的是,我最终明白了。

Judy: I can use them to create my APP, and I can use the MIT APP Inventor to make my small games and play them with myself-it just feels like I can do anything I want by using it, I don’t need to download other games, it brought me lots of fulfillment when I am playing or sharing the games I created by my own.
