在刚刚结束的苏州园林生态研学中,我们深入拙政园,解码了这座“世界文化遗产”中“道法自然”的水循环智慧。同学们化身生态侦探,观测“水下森林”、检测水质、绘制生态图谱。
During the recently concluded Suzhou Classical Garden Ecological Study Program, students ventured deep into the Humble Administrator's Garden, decoding the water-circulation wisdom of "following the laws of nature" embedded in thisUNESCO World Heritage Site. Acting as ecological detectives, they observed the "underwater forest," conducted water quality tests, and mapped ecological systems.

Recognized for his outstanding observational skills, scientific curiosity, and collaborative spirit during the study program, Kaelan was recommended for an advanced research platform: the UNESCO-certifiedSDG Youth Laboratory: 48-Hour Water Quality Research Challenge Camp.

令人惊喜的是,Kaelan在SDG实验室中,并未止步于对“水”的宏观观察,而是带领小组主动将视角延伸至与水体息息相关的“土壤”微观世界,完成了一份颇具深度的《土壤微生物实验报告》,实现了从生态现象到基因本质的科研跨界。
Notably, in the SDG Lab, Kaelan did not stop at a macroscopic observation of "water." Instead, he led his team to extend their inquiry into the microscopic world ofsoil, a critical component closely linked to aquatic ecosystems. The team completed an in-depthSoil Microbiology Experimental Report, achieving a meaningful interdisciplinary leap—from ecological phenomena to genetic mechanisms.

Kaelan gradually developed the habit of note-taking in class, with a strong emphasis oncomprehension and internalization. In Suzhou, his notebook was filled withsketches of ecological relationships and probing questions. In the SDG Lab, this habit evolved intorigorous documentation of experimental procedures and reflective evaluations.

DNA提取:使用PMA试剂精准区分活菌/死菌,通过裂解、磁珠纯化等步骤提取微生物DNA。
qPCR定量分析:操作精密仪器,对特定微生物基因进行荧光定量。
Sampling: Standardized collection of soil potentially affected by industrial activities.
DNA Extraction: Use of PMA reagents to accurately distinguish live and dead bacteria, followed by cell lysis and magnetic-bead purification to extract microbial DNA.
qPCR Quantitative Analysis: Operation of precision instruments to quantify specific microbial genes using fluorescence.
面对称量精度、时间把控、液体操作等挑战,他的团队协作能力(同时作为核心队员参与生物CTB项目)发挥了关键作用,小组共同克服困难,其间的反思也成为了报告中宝贵的一部分。
Facing challenges such as measurement accuracy, time control, and liquid handling, Kaelan'sstrong teamwork skills—also demonstrated through his role as a core member of the Biology CTB Project—proved essential. The team collectively overcame difficulties, and their reflections became a valuable component of the final report.
