The Open Day for Grade 1 of PYP arrives as scheduled. This time, we not only want parents to "see" their children's transformation, but also invite you to "walk alongside" us, embarking on a two-way journey of education and growth.

我们的超学科探究从来不是单一学科的延伸,而是一把打开孩子们用多元视角认识世界的神奇钥匙,让课堂变成可触摸、可探索、可创造的探究乐园。中文课上,探究围绕“社区角色”这一相关概念展开,以小组为单位带着探究任务走访不同职责的老师,一次次尝试用语言工具梳理探究发现。浸润式的英文课堂交流,让学生的英语语言能力在真实的探究场景中悄然提升,善于交流的特质也在每一次表达中扎根。音乐课上的团队节奏游戏,美术课上用图形进行自画像的艺术表达,心理课上关于情绪的识别和应对,儿哲课上对我是谁的交流碰撞……这些不是零散的活动,而是超学科探究的魅力所在。
现在,当孩子们遇到问题时,不再急着问“答案是什么”,而是学着自己找答案。这份蜕变,藏在每一节课堂、每一次课间、每一个主动尝试的瞬间里。
In Chinese class, inquiries revolve around the related concept of "community roles." Working in groups, students take on inquiry tasks to visit teachers with different responsibilities, repeatedly practicing using language as a tool to organize their inquiry findings. Immersive English classroom interactions allow students’ language skills to quietly improve in real inquiry scenarios, while the trait of being a good communicator takes root with every expression. Team rhythm games in music class, artistic self-portraits created with shapes in art class, emotion recognition and regulation in psychology class, and discussions about "who I am" in P4C class... These are not isolated activities, but the very charm of transdisciplinary inquiry.
Now, when facing problems, children no longer rush to ask "what the answer is"—instead, they learn to find solutions on their own. This transformation lies in every class, every break, and every moment of proactive attempt.

Through their concise and insightful explanations, parents not only gained an understanding of the integration curriculum’s core philosophy—centered on inquiry—but also deeply grasped the essence of home-school cooperation.

在Ms.Ash的英文语言课上,一年级的孩子们以运动为线索,展开了一场关于自我认知的探究。他们从感知与体验起步,在游戏中运用所学习的词汇和句式进行自信表达。进而梳理与建构,将个人能力梳理成逻辑清晰的写作段落。这不仅是语言学习,更是一次对自身潜能的发现,我们如何认识并欣赏自己与他人的独特之处。在充满鼓励的环境中,每个孩子都成为了积极的表达者与善思的学习者。
In Ms. Ash’s English Language class, Grade 1 students launched an inquiry into self-awareness, with sports as their starting point. They began with sensory perception and experience, confidently using learned vocabulary and sentence patterns to express themselves through games. They organized and constructed their ideas, turning personal abilities into coherent writing paragraphs. In this encouraging environment, every child became an active speaker and a thoughtful learner.

成为小学生,加入新集体,是孩子们社会身份的一次重要转变。这引发了一系列深刻的探究:我们的“归属”发生了哪些变化?如何欣赏并看待集体中的不同?在Mr. Dale的课堂上,这些抽象的概念通过绘本《The Big Umbrella》变得生动而具体。他没有给出指令,而是抛出了一个个开放性问题,引导孩子们观察、思考、辩论。孩子们最终发现,只要我们能够珍视和包容每一个独特的个体,就能成为一个胸襟开阔的人,更好地享受集体的快乐。
How has our "sense of belonging" changed? How do we appreciate and embrace differences within a group? In Mr. Dale’s class, these abstract concepts came to life through the picture book The Big Umbrella. Instead of giving direct instructions, he posed open-ended questions to guide children to observe, reflect, and debate. Eventually, the children realized that by valuing and embracing each unique individual, they could grow into open-minded people who better enjoy the joy of community.

在王芷老师的数学课堂上,小组围绕概念“形式”和“功能”展开探究。学生通过观察、触摸不同的形状,能够用自己的语言描述概括它们的特点,在身处的学习社区中发现这个形状的物体就在我们身边。之后,在滚动游戏难度的逐渐提升中,学生发现物体滚动的原因并总结滚动的方向。最后学生通过今天学习的数学知识,解释生活中的现象,感受数学与生活的密不可分。
In Ms. Sunny's mathematics class, through observing and touching various shapes, students were able to describe and generalize the characteristics of these shapes in their own words, discovering that such shapes exist all around them within their learning community. Finally, using the mathematical knowledge acquired during the lesson, students explained real-life phenomena, experiencing firsthand the inseparable connection between mathematics and everyday life.

In Ms. Nicoles's lesson, students actively sought words from daily life. Focusing on the 'functions' of body organs, the children engaged in animated discussions, gaining a profound understanding that each organ has its own role while needing to cooperate closely with others. Students not only mastered methods for recognizing pictographic characters but also experienced the close connection between Chinese characters and everyday wisdom.

共筑协同育人的成长同盟
在各班的家长会上,让家长看见学校教育的细节,知道孩子在课堂上不只是学知识,更是在培养会探究、能合作、善管理的能力。老师们针对孩子们在成长过程中遇到的具体问题和困惑,如学习方法的调整、阅读习惯的建立、以及人际交往的拓展等,为家长们提供了切实可行的建议和解决方案。同时老师们还鼓励家长们把探究式学习从课堂延伸到家庭,用成长型思维陪伴孩子试错。
During the parent-teacher conferences for each class, parents were able to see the details of school education, understanding that what their children gain in class is not just knowledge—more importantly, it is the cultivation of competencies in inquiry, collaboration, and self-management. Teachers addressed specific issues and challenges children encountered in their growth. Additionally, teachers encouraged parents to extend inquiry-based learning from the classroom to the home, and to accompany their children through trial and error with a growth mindset.
