In the first month of the new academic year, the Senior School has implemented a systematic upgrade, establishing athreefold academic development framework:daily teaching + tailored extension + personalised support and enrichment. Our focus goes beyond the transmission of knowledge to cultivating thinking skills, core competencies, and global perspectives. This year's initiatives are a practical demonstration of this philosophy.
01
Emerging Business Pathway:
From "Entrepreneurship" to "Accounting"
This year, the Lower Senior has introduced a brand-new Entrepreneurship course. Much more than a conventional theory class, it functions as a "Campus Business Laboratory".Pupils work in teams to launch simulated enterprises, managing the full cycle from product design and marketing to fundraising. Through this hands-on approach, they develop risk-taking, creativity, and teamwork skills.
This experience links directly with the Sixth Form’s newly launched A-Level Accounting course, creating acoherent business pathwayfrom foundational business understanding to specialised study, laying the groundwork for future studies in Economics, Finance, Management, and related fields.

Strengthened Academic Support:
Extension Programmes and
the Global Excel Hub (GEH)
The school's Gifted and Talented Programme is based at the Wheeler Bennet Centre, and blends Oxford-style supervision with a spirit of innovation to provide a comprehensive framework forresearch, competition, and personal development. Pupils can engage in programmes such as Johns Hopkins CTY and Tournament of Minds, while also accessing top-tier MOOC resources.
At the same time, the Global Excel Hub (GEH)has been formally established and upgraded. Initially enhancing English support the GEH now uses a layered teaching system which extends to a broader range of subjects. Serving pupils from Prep 5 to Seniors, it works in close collaboration with daily teaching and extension programmes to create a structured, and personalised learning ecosystem.

Academic Arena: From Classroom to Global Stage
Academic competitions remain a vital platform for pupils to test their learning. Following last year's success, the school will once again host the ASDAN Business Simulation Challenge. Open to all senior pupils, it fosters logical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork. Pupils also have opportunities to participate in international competitions such as the American Mathematics Competition (AMC) and Biology Challenge, broadening their perspectives and strengthening their competitive edge alongside peers worldwide.

Strengthened Science
Curriculum
and Dynamic
Differentiation
With a growing number of graduates pursuing Life Sciences and Chemistry, the Senior School has enhanced its science curriculum to help pupils acquire subject-specific English vocabulary early and ensure a smooth transition from IGCSE to A-Level. From FY onwards, dynamic differentiated teachingis implemented in core subjects including English, Maths, and Science. Pupils receive targeted support at all levels: those needing consolidation receive additional guidance, while more advanced pupils are challenged with higher-level content. This is a genuine embodiment of teaching according to ability.
05
Holistic Education:
Exploring SelfThrough Diverse Experiences
Outside the classroom, pupils can choose from over100 Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs), ranging from dance, coding, and drone technology to Global Perspectives (GP) courses, international connectivity programmes, and summer camps. Through arts, sports, technology, and cross-cultural experiences, pupils develop their potential and grow into future-ready global citizens with the ability to explore, communicate, and create.
Every curriculum upgrade reflects our ongoing commitment to holistic education. At Malvern College Chengdu, we not only prepare pupils for entry to world-class universities but also focus onnurturing the core competencies and inner resiliencethey need to thrive in the future. This year’s developments are designed to ensure that every child grows, from a strong academic foundation, into a confident, resilient, and forward-looking leader.
